Athletic Scholarships
Every year more than 425,000 student-athletes compete in NCAA and NAIA intercollegiate athletics. And, every year more than one billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) in athletic scholarships and financial aid is awarded to athletes competing in college sports throughout the United States.
On the NCAA level, athletic scholarships are only awarded for Division I and Division II programs. NCAA Division III schools are only permitted to award need based financial aid packages. NAIA schools offer both athletic scholarships and financial aid, depending on the institution.
The chart below shows the differences between the various levels of college athletics and what they offer:
College Level Sponsored
Financial Aid
NCAA D-1 14 Yes Yes
NCAA D-2 8 Yes Yes
NCAA D-3 8 No Yes
NAIA No Limit Yes Yes
*Sponsored sports for NCAA institutions are minimums for each level, split evenly between men's and women's programs. For example, a Division I school must sponsor at least 7 men's programs and 7 women's programs to qualify as a Division I program.
Athletic scholarships, academic scholarships, need based financial aid, grants and work study programs are all part of the financial aid packages that are awarded to college-bound student-athletes every year.
Participation in High School Sports
Participation in high school athletics is at an all-time high, and so is the competition for athletic scholarships on the collegiate level.
Every year more than 7,000,000 young men and women compete in high school and club team sports.
Less than 6% of high school athletes will ever compete in sports on the collegiate level.
The best way to increase your chances of being recruited for an athletic scholarship is by receiving proper EXPOSURE!
Importance of Exposure for High School Prospects
The biggest myth in college recruiting is the old saying, "If you're good enough to play college sports, college coaches will find you." This statement couldn't be farther from the truth! The fact is, every year thousands of qualified and deserving student-athletes go unnoticed in the recruiting process simply because college coaches don't know who they are. If college coaches can't find you, they can't recruit you!
What's the answer to this problem? EXPOSURE! Proper exposure is the single most important step you can take to ensure your achievements as a student-athlete do not go unnoticed!
Since 1982, Collegiate Sports of America has helped more than 40,000 student-athletes obtain athletic scholarships, and financial aid for college. If you qualify as a prospective scholarship prospect, and have the desire, motivation, and commitment to compete in the exciting world of college athletics, then CSA-PrepStar may be of great help to you!
